Alternative Energy Machine: The Rat Attack!
Here is the Rat Attack in all it's macho cat glory!
(don't ask)
The Rat Attack is the alternate energy car that utilises kinetic energy from the Rat Trap with the long board attached. It is made out of wood, strong, hot glue, copper wire, a Rat Trap, some screws, and an assortment of k'ex pieces. You add kinetic energy by twisting the wheels backwards, which makes the rat trap spring compress. When the wheel is let go, the rat trap decompresses and pulls the string attached to the axle of the front wheels which makes the car go exactly 5 meters.
The concepts we learned during this project were mostly about stored energy and the releasing of that energy. There were three types of energy we calculated, Kinetic, Potential and Thermal. Potential is energy that COULD happen ie. a car on top of a hill or a chemical reaction about to happen. Kinetic energy is energy in the form of movement. The faster and bigger it is, the more kinetic energy it has. The third and final energy we learned about is Thermal, but for this project we just meant all energy lost that could be from sound or friction. For this project, I contributed mostly doing the work that no one was doing. That was pretty cool, but mostly only one other person from the group did most of the work. That was pretty cool, but didn't leave much room for me to a lot. I was mostly just lounging around using my device, which I know it wasn't what i was supposed to do, but i really had nothing else to do. Personally, I didn't learn any skills that I know of, but I guess I did improve on my sympathy a bit, but I also reduced my work ethics.
